Sara opened her eyes and cursed. She sat up and shoved her hair out of her face; she’d forgotten to braid it last night before she’d gone to bed. She opened the bedside table drawer and pulled out the sealed letter. Did it contain the answers Seth refused to give?

She slipped a fingernail under the corner of the envelope, but then sighed and put it back into the drawer. She had no right to demand answers if he didn’t want to give them. She wanted Seth to trust her enough to tell her himself, and she wouldn’t earn trust by violating his privacy again.

Sara tossed back the covers and mentally squared her shoulders for another day of working on Lucy Bridges’s book.
